William Sommers, PhD
Director of Stakeholder Centered Coaching for Educators
In Stakeholder Centered Coaching (SCC) to be successful requires three elements:
(I call it CHaD)
- Courage – receive real feedback and data from real sources.
- Humility – a belief that the leader can increase their skill level and/or they are not as good as they want be.
- Discipline – follow through, no learning happens without action and results
Leaders and supervisors ask HOW? Good question. Here are the top 15 areas leaders ask to be coached around:
- Work/Life Balance
- Managing Up
- Managing Conflict
- Internal & External Communications

- Coaching & Supervising Instructional Strategies
- Building Learning Cultures
- Keeping HOPE Aliive
- Delegating More Effectively
- Leadership Presence & Being Visible
- Courage & Political Savvy
- Creative Problem Solving
- Presentation Skills & Leading Professional Learning
- Using Data Effectively
- Using Change Models
The graph below rates leadership from Performing Worse (-3) to Elevating Leadership Behavior (+3).
