Elevating Leadership Part 2

Elevating Leadership

William Sommers, PhD

Director of Stakeholder Centered Coaching for Educators

In Stakeholder Centered Coaching (SCC) to be successful requires three elements:

(I call it CHaD)

  1. Courage – receive real feedback and data from real sources.
  2. Humility – a belief that the leader can increase their skill level and/or they are not as good as they want be.
  3. Discipline – follow through, no learning happens without action and results

Leaders and supervisors ask HOW?  Good question. Here are the top 15 areas leaders ask to be coached around:

  1. Work/Life Balance
  2. Managing Up
  3. Managing Conflict
  4. Internal & External Communications
  5. Facilitating Effective Meetings
  6. Coaching & Supervising Instructional Strategies
  7. Building Learning Cultures
  8. Keeping HOPE Aliive
  9. Delegating More Effectively
  10. Leadership Presence & Being Visible
  11. Courage & Political Savvy
  12. Creative Problem Solving
  13. Presentation Skills & Leading Professional Learning
  14. Using Data Effectively
  15. Using Change Models

The graph below rates leadership from Performing Worse (-3) to Elevating Leadership Behavior (+3).
